Establishing PECC vision as PECC Chair's Committee
  Korea being the Chair Committee of PECC, KOPEC takes the responsibility to work for the goals and visions of PECC and the revitalization of the Council. KOPEC is planning to demonstrate Korea's economic leadership through different activities which contribute to the stability, prosperity and progress of the region.
Preparing for the 16th PECC General Meeting and APEC process
  KOPEC is on its way of preparing for the 16th PECC General Meeting and the APEC Process, which will be the two major events to be hosted by Korea in 2005. The preparation includes inviting intellectuals for their advice and participation, consulting with the Korean government and relevant institutions regarding formal process, and developing a joint program with regional organizations such as APEC Study Center Consortium or APEC Academy for enhanced cooperation. KOPEC expects these events to successfully contribute to facilitating economic growth in the region.
Supporting international activities for Korea to play a major role in the Asia-Pacific
region
  Korea has been playing a key role in the fields of Finance, Trade, and Ecotech in the Asia-Pacific region and is to support such various international activities so that Korea could continuously lead the areas. Especially, KOPEC will be focusing on the fields of IT industry or Finance, in which Korea has competitiveness and are of great interest worldwide.
KOPEC contributes to PECC by providing intellectual and economic assistance and in enhancing Asia-Pacific prosperity. KOPEC carries out PECC activities in Korea and participates in strengthening regional cooperation.
KOPEC has been a valuable member from the establishment of PECC and has taken part in Standing Committee and Coordinating Group ever since. KOPEC has actively participated in most of PECC activities and made great achievements. Korea hosted the 4th PECC General Meeting in Seoul in 1985 and was appointed as the Chair Committee of the Finance Forum in 2001. Moreover, Korea took over the chairmanship of PECC in 2003 and Dr. Kihwan Kim, the Chair of Korea PECC, has inaugurated as International Chair of PECC.

PECC Funding
Being part of PECC, the only non-governmental official observer of APEC, KOPEC plays the role of think-tank by providing information and analytical support to APEC ministerial meetings and working groups. Also it supports APEC research on international relations and carries out publicity activities in Korea.

KOPEC works are focused on enhancing economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region by carrying out PECC and APEC activities in Korea. Another important responsibility of KOPEC is to increase public
awareness on PECC and publicize its work and achievements. KOPEC is therefore deeply concerned with public outreach programs which include publishing research work and a quarterly magazine, making reports of major PECC events, and maintaining the KOPEC web site for announcement and information.
KOPEC is also engaged in close relations with other international organizations within the region such including ABAC and PBEC, to build a regional network and enhance regional cooperation.

KOPEC has established 14 Working Groups according to PECC structure to promote Korea's participation in PECC research and activities. They are Trade, Finance, Science and Technology, Tourism, Minerals, Transportation, Fisheries, Energy, Human Resource Development, Telecommunication, Maritime, PEO-Structure, PEO-Forecast, PFO Working Groups.
Each Working Group consists of working-level government officials, business member, and academic
or professional members, and the representative from each KOPEC Member Institute acts as the coordinator of each respective Working Group. The main roles of Working Group are carrying out research projects on its field and participating in PECC International Meetings as Korean delegation.
